The Latest News from the Irish Heritage Society of Milford website:SAVE THE DATE: GOLF TOURNAMENT, MON, 5/21/12 !! (by Maureen Moore, published Friday, 27 January 2012 00:00) The IHS Lyle James Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held on Monday afternoon, May 21, at Mill River Country Club in Stratford . Golfers will pay $165, which includes a BBQ lunch and one-hour of open bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres afterwards. Tee sponsorships available for $100. Contact Mike McCabe for information and sign-ups. A proposal to lease classrooms in the former St. Ann's School has been presented to us, and details of the proposal will be presented to the membership, and a preliminary go-ahead to explore the prospect will be discussed at January's meeting. Please plan to attend and stay informed.
Also at the January meeting:
Reservations/signup sheet to attend the annual Corned Beef Dinner in honor of the IHSM Irishwoman / Irishman of the Year. Saturday, March 3rd, 6-11 pm, St. Ann's Church Hall. Tickets are $30 each, for a full corned beef dinner, setups, and entertainment by the Ale Hounds and the Mulkerin dancers. Nominations are still open for the honorees, and must be in writing to any board member, or sent to our mailing address: IHSM, 58 River St, Box 111, Milford, CT 06460. Nominees may not be current members of the Executive Board.
Deadline for nominations is Feb. 6th.
Committee for the event: Still need more volunteers! Please sign up on Tuesday to help. Initial planning meeting took place on 1/24 at St. Ann's Hall, and next meeting will be held there on Wed. 2/15 at 7:00 pm. It takes "many hands" to put on this wonderful event!

It's time again for our annual Corned Beef Dinner with fabulous home-cooked meals, excellent music and entertainment, and of course, the important honoring of our new Irishwoman and Irishman of the Year! INVITE ALL OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS TO THIS GREAT EVENT TO KICK OFF THE SEASON OF IRISH CELEBRATION!!
Nominations are open and welcome from all members, either by email to any Executive Board member, or by a note/letter sent to IHSM, 58 River St, Box 111, Milford, CT 06460. THE DEADLINE FOR THE NOMINATIONS IS FEBRUARY 6TH. Nominees must be current member and not part of the existing Executive Board.
The event will be held at St. Ann's Church Hall in Devon, with the Ale Hounds and Mulkerin Dancers providing the entertainment. Tickets are $30 each, BYOB and snacks. Setups will be provided. Reservations and payments can be made at the January 31st general meeting, or by mailing them to IHSM, 58 River Street, Box 111, Milford, CT 06460.Jenn Hussey is co-chairing with Chris McEnerney for the event, and they, along with the Activities Committee ,will be holding an important planning meeting on January 24th, at 7:00 PM, at the St. Ann's Church Hall. EVERYONE who can help, before the event and at the event, are asked to attend the meeting, if you possibly can. This is a very labor-intensive event, since all of the preparation, shopping, setup, cleanup, and so on are done by IHS members. Last year's event was a big success, and we plan for the same this year.

Corned Beef Dinner Meeting, Tues 1/24 7:00 pm (by Maureen Moore, published Saturday, 14 January 2012 00:00) A planning meeting for the Annual Corned Beef Dinner (to be held on March 3rd, honoring the IHS Woman and Man of the year) will take place Tuesday, January 24th, at 7 PM.The meeting will be held in the church hall of St. Ann's Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, which is the venue for the event.

All women members of IHSM - don’t forget to invite your mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, and female friends to IHSM’s Annual Ladies Brunch, to be held on Sunday, January 8th, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM, at the Bridge House, 49 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford! This is IHSM’s adaptation of an Irish tradition from County Cork, known as Mother’s Christmas or Mother’s Tea. So come and join us, relax, and enjoy an afternoon of fabulous food, lovely Irish music by the ever-popular Tim Payson, a wonderful raffle, and the company of your favorite women!

Our annual adult IHS Christmas party is only 11 days away!! This will be a fabulous evening, so don't miss out. The party will feature top-notch food and entertainment, open bar from 7 to 11, all at a great value. Reservations will be taken through Monday 11/28 and the final deadline for payments will be the November 29th meeting. Contact Maureen Moore (see below) to make reservations and to make arrangements for dropping off payments if you cannot attend the 11/29 meeting.
