Biographies of the 2026-27 Board

President Elect - Edward Mead

Hello Members of the IHSM. My name is Ed Mead. I’m a charter member of our Club and I’m seeking the position of President. I currently am the IHSM Vice President and have been in this role for two years.

In the past I have been your Club’s President twice, from 2009-2011 and 2014-2016. I have also held the position of Vice President and Sargent at Arms. Currently I’m the Club’s Liquor Permittee and the liaison with the city and state agencies, making myself accessible all hours as needed. I am  also the Co-chairman of the House and Building committee that has overseen and completed many projects this past year, which includes refinishing floors, sheetrock and painted walls, removed trees in lot, installed fencing along parking lot, installed vanity and repair of tile in bathroom, repaired and maintains ice machine, installed drains in bar sinks, coordinating, the building of front and back porch of the rental property, helped install new tap system and installing steps for rental property.

I am seeking the position of Vice President so I may continue the responsibilities and successes we have shown this past year. I believe my past position and experience will continue to support the President and Executive Board, in moving the Club forward in a beneficial and rewarding way for our members. Slainte.

Vice President Elect - Jerry Hodges

I am happy and honored to be nominated as Vice President. I have been a member of the IHSM since 2014. Since then, I have been a part of the House Committee, served as a bartender/ manager, maintained security, previously served on the board as a 3 year Trustee,  co-chaired our Irish Milford Irish Festival for the past three years, and have volunteered wherever I am needed. In March of 2022, I received the honor of being named the IHSM Man of the Year. Along with those important accomplishments, my most coveted role is father to two amazing sons, Mitchell and Riley.

Secretary Elect - Amy Lacey

I am honored to be nominated for the position of IHSM Secretary. I have been a member of the Irish Heritage Society of Milford since the clubhouse opened and have volunteered and participated in several club activities. I so enjoy being involved in all things Irish!

I am incredibly grateful to have been voted the IHSM President from 2022 to 2024. And, too, I was equally honored to be named the 2020 Irish Woman of the Year. It was truly a memorable moment in my life. I enjoy being involved in many aspects of the IHSM, from co-chairing the Irish Festival to bartending to supporting the Communications Committee. As Secretary of the IHSM Board of Directors, I will support the fine work of past board members to further the growth of our beautiful club. Besides volunteering at the IHSM, my other interests include traveling, fifing for The Spirit of Black Rock Fife and Drum Corps, researching family genealogy...and, since 2020, IHSM golfing!

I am employed by the Fairfield Board of Education, and I have taught at Stratfield Elementary School for the past 25 years. As a Connecticut teacher, I have had the privilege to teach in all of the elementary grade levels from Kindergarten through Sixth grade. I am currently a K-5 Math Resource Teacher, where I support K-5 students with direct instruction in mathematics and teach Accelerated Math to advanced 4th and 5th graders. In addition, I support teachers in mathematics through professional development, tiered intervention, and coaching. Also, I have been the Coordinator for Camp Invention's Summer Camps in Fairfield for the past 9 years. I not only love to teach math and science, but I also enjoy learning and teaching many aspects of technology.

My Irish Heritage: Offaly, Laois, and Dublin. I visited Ireland last summer with my daughter and it is such an amazing place! I can't wait to go again.

Membership Elect - David Fowler

David “Dave” Fuller is a lifelong Stratford resident who has Irish lineage to Meath, Dublin, and Antrim Counties on both sides of his family.  He still has family in Meath to this very day and enjoyed several Sunday roasts in Ireland with cousins, extended family, and friends.

David received a bachelor’s from Adelphi University in New York, and a Master's from Fairfield University and works in web, digital, print, and event-based marketing.  He has also served as a town Councilman and Zoning Commissioner in Stratford and is involved with both alumni associations at Adelphi and Fairfield Universities.  He enjoys travel, hiking, golf, baseball, hockey and watching rugby and hurling.

Parliamentarian Elect - Dave McGrew

I am a retired banker having spent my entire 41 year working career in

bank operations, systems, customer service, mergers & acquisitions and

cash management, retiring as a Vice President at Bank of America.

I served in the Connecticut Army National Guard for 6 years and served as

a teacher at the American Bankers Association School and as a mentor for

junior executives of the corporation.

Born in Brooklyn, I have lived in Milford since I was 9 years old, was

educated in the Milford school system and local colleges. I have lived in

my house off Anderson Ave since 1972, renovating it twice since then and

have two children, David and Jillian.

My Irish families come from Tyrone in the north and Roscommon and West

Meath in the south. Since retiring, I have spent time (maybe too much)

researching my heritage. I currently have 11,403 people with 16,932

records in my tree. Unfortunately, the biggest hole is in my Irish heritage

although I know my great-grandfather came to America in 1849 during An

Gorta Mor from Belfast.

I have been a member of the Irish Heritage Society of Milford since 2016

and am a past Parliamentarian and currently a member of the Membership

Committee and the Darts Club, and continue supporting all the worthwhile

events and charities at the club.

I love that this organization is a place for making friends and enjoying the

company of those that share our common heritage. It is truly a treasure.

Sargeant at Arms Elect - Mike Flyte

Hello IHSM Family, Friends, and Members,

My name is Mike Flyte and I am honored to be nominated for the Sergeant at Arms position. I am a lifelong resident of Milford and specifically the Devon area. Some of you may already know me, as my wife likes to say, I am the 'unofficial Mayor of Milford'. But for those of you who do not, here is a little bit about myself.

I have been a member of the club for well over 8 years and became interested in joining through my beloved late grandparents, Kathlyn (Ryan) and Stephen Kraffmiller who were charter members of the IHSM. They were actively involved in many Milford organizations and nonprofits throughout their lives, but my Grandmother's passion for her Irish heritage and her love of genealogy motivated me to join this distinguished club.

Below are a few highlights that I have proudly been apart of or have assisted in during my membership tenure:

  • Sergeant at Arms 2017-2019
  • Bartender 2016-2018
  • Current Member of the Building Committee
  • The unofficial 'tent guy' for all of the club's events and for the various tent rental requests
  • Help out at all of the Milford Oyster Festival events  - setting up and taking down the 3 tents at Milford Landing
  • Volunteered to serve beer at our Club Oyster Festival Beer Tent
  • Helped many years with the Irish Festival parking lot 'overnight watch' crew
  • Member of the Parade Committee for the last 2 years - assisting with organizing the floats and vehicles at Parade Day
  • At the Irish Festival I am in charge of setting and taking down tents, have assisted with checked ID's, and have sold drink tickets at the ticket booth along with my wife Jennifer, who is also a member
  • I ordered and planted the original white oak Memorial Tree that Club graciously donated in honor of my Grandparents at the top of Wilcox Park in Milford.
I also am the owner of my local Landscaping Company, Top Flyte Landscaping, and have helped the Club with various landscaping needs around the Clubhouse - such as clearing brush, cutting trees around the property, plowing the parking lot and clearing the sidewalks in the winter, and helped landscape the club's rental property.

I would be honored to serve on the IHSM Board as Sergeant at Arms; thank you again, and I appreciate your consideration. Sláinte!
